“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

— John 3:16 KJV

The history and foundation of The Move of God Church is one of great excitement and adventure. What began with just a handful of people has become a mighty move of God. People from all walks of life have come to know and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Founded in 1960 in the basement of the late Pastor Edward Harris and his wife Frances Harris Southwest Atlanta home, The Move of God Church existence is to introduce people to the body of Christ and demonstrate unconditional love by helping people know Jesus.

During the early years of Pastor Harris’s life as a brick mason and contractor he would manage to find time after a long day at work to study and grow in the Word of God. Some years later he decided to give up his business as a builder and devote all his time to God’s service. As a devoted husband to Frances; father to three children; and a devoted man of God to the ministry of Jesus Christ, he touched the lives of many by proclaiming the Word of God without fear or favor. In 2001, Pastor Harris was called home to be with the Lord. To guide us through our loss, Senior Pastor Frances Harris comforted us and encouraged us to continue moving forward. At a 100 years old, Sr. Pastor Frances Harris was called home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2019. Accepting the call as Pastor in 2009 and installed in 2010, Reverend Louis E. Spear has continued the legacy that Pastor Harris left by inspiring the congregation to study the Word of God, apply what has been taught, and digest it so the Word becomes a relevant part of everyday living.

From our humble beginnings, The Move of God Church has and continues to fervently focus on serving God and witnessing to a dying world that Jesus Christ can be Lord and Savior of their life. This focus has allowed us to witness and experience first-hand God doing amazing things. More than that, we have been privileged to see – over and over – that moment when a life changes through the extravagant love and grace of Jesus. These moments are the reason we do what we do!

Our vision – then and now – is to proclaim to the world the message of Repentance, Restoration, and Redemption.
